By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the trial of 29-year-old Keyron Brandon Michael Gibson, who stands accused of the 2014 murder of Taylors Alley resident Tulio Caceres, continues in the Supreme Court before Justice Herbert Lord.
Yesterday, Senior Crown Counsel, Sheneiza Smith from the Office Of the Director of Public Prosecution, concluded submissions of evidence after calling seven witnesses including expert witness Dr. Mario Estradabran, who did the post-mortem on Caceres and certified that he died from gunshot injuries. Estradabran noted that Caceres had 17 gunshot injuries total.
The prosecution’s main witness was Shamir Mai who was a police constable at the time of the incident. Mai testified that in May 2014, he was posted doing special duties at the San Pedro Water Taxi Express on North Front Street. Mai testified that he heard shots coming from the direction of the park located across from City Hall, and he went to investigate. Mai said that he saw a man firing shots who he identified as Gibson, at a man who was later identified as Tulio Caceres. Mai further testified that the shooter rode past him on a bicycle, allowing him to get a good look at his face.
Today, Gibson’s attorney, Oscar Selgado, begins presenting his defense.
