Speaker updates on plans for changes to code of conduct and Standing Orders

By Aaron Humes: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Valerie Woods, opened today’s meeting with updates on how the National Assembly and its members are policing themselves.

In conjunction with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, a draft Code of Conduct is being reviewed by the Joint Working Group of the Assembly and next steps involve creating an implementation timeline.

The decades-old Standing Orders of the House will begin moving to be renewed with an initial planning exercise next week.
