Corozal community efforts continue installing garbage bins around town

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Four colorfully decorated bins were installed at the open lot next to Rainbow Park in Corozal Town on Saturday as part of a community effort to install garbage bins around Corozal Town.

“We must come together as a community. Community initiatives don’t have to be grand. Our small initiative has made a significant positive impact in our Corozal community,” wrote Lincoln E Eiley in a Facebook post entitled “WORK WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK – MAYOR RIGO VELLO’S & COUNCILORS ATTEND INSTALLATION OF BIN #73, #74, #75, #76***”

The number of bins installed under this project is now at 76.

“I want to say thank you to everyone across the borough who has sponsored and supported our cause even in the midst of unprecedented and worrying times,” Eiley wrote. “Our staunch spirit and determination to help our community is something from the heart.”

He went on to thank Mayor Rigo Vellos, Deputy Mayor Otto Riverol, Administrator Alberto Vellos, Councilor Marleni Tapia, Councilor Baldemar Pech, Councilor Mike
Montalvo “for pulling together in the most spirited way and for your unconditional moral and logistical support”.

The sponsors of the newly installed bins were also recognized:

#76 “Keep Corozal Beautiful” Claudette Lanneaux – From New York – Property owner in Corozal and frequent visitor. An artist herself.
