72 have died from COVID-19 since August, 55 were unvaccinated and 31 were older than 60

By BBN Staff: More than 70 Belizeans have died from COVID-19 between August 1 and September 29, with people older than 60 years accounting for the majority of those deaths.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness reports that there have been 72 deaths within the reference period, 55 were unvaccinated and 31 of them being from the 60+ age group. Twenty-four of these people were unvaccinated, one had received the first vaccine dose and six were fully vaccinated.

There have been 18 deaths of people between the ages of 50-58, with 11 of them being unvaccinated, three had received their first dose and four were fully vaccinated.

There were 11 deaths of people within the 40-49 years age group, nine of whom were unvaccinated and two had received their first shot only.

There were 10 deaths of people between the ages of 30-39 years, nine of which were unvaccinated and one receiving their first shot only.

There were also two deaths of people between the ages of 20-29 years, both of whom were unvaccinated.

A total of 55 of the total 72 deaths during the reference period were unvaccinated.
