Pan American Day no longer a public and bank holiday

Posted: Monday, October 4, 2021. 2:42 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Home Affairs has reminded that we no longer celebrate Pan American Day, also known as Columbus Day.

By order of Minister Kareem Musa as of June 10, it was struck off the list of Public and Bank holidays listed in the First and Second Schedules to the Holidays Act, Chapter 289 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2011.

The next major holiday is Friday, November 19, Garifuna Settlement Day, followed by Saturday, December 25, Christmas Day, and Monday, December 27, Boxing Day (in lieu of Sunday, December 26.)
