Posted: Wednesday, October 20, 2021. 4:55 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Today, the Department of Civil Aviation has saluted Air Traffic Controllers for the 2021 celebration of International Air Traffic Controllers Day.

The department emphasized that the job of an air traffic controller is a huge responsibility, requiring immense focus, quick decision making, and the ability to manage multiple flights at a time.

“Your hard work and dedication is unmistakable shown every single day,” the Department said. “We thank you, our controllers, who have remained steadfast in the Department’s mission which is ‘To Promote efficient and expeditious movement of domestic and international air transportation in Belize through the provision of proper regulatory procedures in accordance with the air navigation regulations in force and the Standards and Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization.”‘

The department also noted that air traffic controllers, like many other professionals, have had a difficult time during the COVId-19 pandemic, with increased strain on human and physical resources, and commended them for tirelessly keeping Belize’s skies safe.

Breaking Belize News joins the Department of Civil Aviation in wishing all air traffic controllers a Happy International Air Traffic Controllers Day.
