Six youth – three male, three female charged in connection with burglary of Belize City store

Posted: Tuesday, December 21, 2021. 12:48 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: A group of six were arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a number of charges relating to the burglary of a store belonging to a Bangladesh national on the Southside of Belize City.

Cameron August, 19, a set of twin brothers both age 17; Sheniq Martinez, 19; Tamia Pollard, 18; and Amayah Trapp, 18, were all read one count each of burglary and one count each of handling stolen goods. They all pleaded not guilty to their charges.

Prosecutor in the case, Sgt. Christopher Smith objected to bail for Cameron August, defendant one on the grounds that he is a frequent visitor to the court with a record of 3 convictions for crimes of dishonesty and a recent burglary case before the court with 2 others active. Prosecutor Smith was of the view that if granted bail with his record, August may very well commit himself again and be right back before the court in no time.

After a short adjournment, the Magistrate granted bail in the sum of $1,000 to the three females but no bail was offered to any of the three males. Their case was adjourned until February 21, 2022.

Allegations are that on Friday, December 17, 2021, they all entered as a trespasser, the home of Bangladesh national, MD Rahman located at the corner of Curassow and Warrie Street and stole cell phones, rum, cigarettes, cash, and other items to a total value of around $5,860. Police say some of the stolen items were found with the accused during a subsequent raid.
