Police investigating origin of fireworks used on New Year’s Eve

By Aaron Humes: According to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, he gave no authorization for the use of any fireworks or other explosive devices to be used on New Year’s Eve.

Yet they were set off across the City and elsewhere.

Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero, at today’s press brief, admitted it would be tough to establish the origin and source of the devices.

But the Department will at least try to pursue those responsible.

The Commissioner by law normally has to give permission for such devices to be used and does not permit them to be used in sensitive areas such as near the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
