Belize enters holiday weekend with slightly lower new caseload as 40-thousand threshold passed

By Aaron Humes: 722 new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed from 3,096 persons tested for a daily positive rate of 23.3 percent.

Belize goes into the weekend with 7,536 active cases and 535 samples under investigation. More importantly, it has now reported 40,612 total cases, or 10.1 percent of the tested population.

The national recovery rate is under 80 percent even as 290 new recoveries were reported.

Hospitalization rates remain about the same and one new death was reported.
