Wagiya, San Pedro Pirates kick off Football Federation Top League weekend

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Top League Closing Championship rolls into Week 2, Wagiya will play their first home game at 6:00 pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan against the San Pedro Pirates.

The Dangriga side was the worst hit in the first weekend of action as they were demolished by Verdes in a 5-0 thumping at the same FFB Stadium last Sunday night.

The San Pedro Pirates, for their part, started off with a 1-0 win over Belize City’s Caesar Ridge.

Wagiya will be counting on the likes of captain Colombian Dayro Gomez, and Belizean National Team players like Warren Moss and Donnel Arzu to lead them to victory over the Pirates.

San Pedro are not totally satisfied with their 1-0 win. Led by Brazilian coach Jorge Nunes, the islanders will look for more goals from Ian Pou Jr and company.
