Weed stashes found across Belize City and aboard Placencia flight

By Aaron Humes: Police have recovered more than three pounds of cannabis and a cannabis plant in four separate busts across Belize City and aboard a local airline cargo flight in Placencia village.

On Friday, Police conducted searches on a Tropic Air Cargo flight that arrived in Placencia Village. Searches were conducted in a red gift bag that contained a blue shoebox, which contained eight Ziplock bags containing cannabis weighing 494 grams or just over a pound. The package was retrieved and was found to be labeled with the sender and receiver’s name. Police are investigating.

In Belize City on Friday, separate searches were conducted in an empty lot in the Precinct 2 subdivision, on Pitter Street near Lords’ Ridge Cemetery and on Handyside Street. These searches respectively netted 465 grams, 472 grams and 292 grams of cannabis or a total of 1,229 grams or 2.7 pounds.

Except for the plant which was destroyed, the drugs were labeled and stored as found property
