Chopping in the Corozal District sends 54-year-old man to the hospital

By BBN Staff: Police have confirmed a chopping incident in the Corozal district yesterday.

Xaibe Villager 54-year-old Ermin Eligio Eloy Basto reportedly was involved in an altercation with a fellow villager around 6:30 p.m. that turned violent.

The unnamed villager then pulled a machete and inflicted a large chop wound to Basto’s body.

Basto was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Police are investigating.
