Three City men shot Tuesday night – one dead, two injured, suspect detained

By Aaron Humes: One person has been held and two others are being sought for a shooting incident reported late Tuesday night on Logwood Street, Belize City.

Police say Devon Tillett, DeAndre Williams and others were upstairs on a verandah overlooking Locke Alley, off Logwood Street, when they saw four men walking from a Logwood Street residence toward them.

The attackers jumped over the fence separating the yards and opened fire, injuring Tillett and Williams. An unnamed person who was at Locke Alley returned fire and injured a third man, Carrel Sanchez, 23, who we are told police suspect to be one of the attackers.

The others fled into Logwood only to meet Police, who began to pursue them. They ran into an alley off Banak Street but one was unable to elude the cops who found him inside a bushy yard. His compatriots did manage to escape but left behind two loaded 9-millimetre pistols recovered by Police.

Tillett and Williams were treated and released from the hospital while Sanchez was pronounced dead on arrival. Police investigations continue.
