Belize defeats Barbados 3-0 with ten women in the Women’s World Cup Qualifier in El Salvador

Playing with ten women as Shante Chacon was red-carded in the fourth minute after fouling Soraya Toppin-Herbert, the Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) defeated Barbados 3-0 in their final game of the Concacaf Women’s World Cup qualifiers in San Salvador on Tuesday.

The BWNT finish the qualifiers in third place with four points, behind Panama and El Salvador, one point ahead of Barbados, and three more than Aruba. Panama and El Salvador are deciding the spot today. The winner advances to the next round.

Playing with disadvantage from the get-go at the Cuscatlán Stadium in San Salvador because of the red card, the BWNT showed character and determination producing a superb performance.

Shendra Casimiro scored off a pass by a teammate who lobbed the ball from the left side in the 38th minute for Belize.

Jayda Brown then put Belize 2-0 ahead in the 55th minute beating the goalkeeper Kamillah Burke after getting a pass from Casimiro.

The third goal came in injury time in the 90+4 when Brown smacked in the ball spit out by Burke after a shot by Khalydia Velasquez.

Coach Wayne Casimiro sent Jasmin Armstrong as starting goalkeeper for Belize.

Shante Chacon, Mikhaila Bowden, Roshanny Narvaez, and Vailene Lambert lined up in the back.

Ashley Rodriguez, Sabrina Eiley, and Jesselle Conorque populated the middle while Alisha Terry, Shendra Casimiro, and Jayda Brown were deployed upfront.

Belinda Linarez, Beatrice Alfaro, Carlene Tillett, Stephanie Barrientos, Florine Vasquez, Tanya Teul, Khalydia Velasquez, and Kaite Jones were on the bench.

Belize’s first substitution came in the 67th minute when Velasquez entered for Terry.

Jones went in for Casimiro in the 75th.

Belize made a final change when the game was expiring, sending in goalkeeper Belinda Linarez for Jasmin Armstrong.
