Stann Creek man charged for gang affiliation

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have charged a Stann Creek resident for gang affiliation.

Officers say that today they formally arrested and charged 26-year-old Cleon Smith Jr, for the crime of “being a member of a gang.”

Smith, who resides in Placencia, is accused of being a member of the Long Beach Crips also known as the Louis Bevans Crips (LBC).

Earlier this year, police began an aggressive campaign against gang activity, particularly in Belize City where the number of violent, gang-related crimes had escalated.
