Santa Cruz, Succotz United win in Benque Viejo Football Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Santa Cruz and Succotz United won hard-fought games in the Benque Viejo Football Championship this past weekend.

Santa Cruz FC downed the Z-Boys in the big game on Sunday at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.

Jayden Lennan opened the hostilities in favour of the ZBoys in the 5’.

Santa Cruz pushed forward and provoked an own goal by Randy Chavarria three minutes later to tie the game 1-1.

Santa Cruz would then gain the victory on a strike by Henry Betancourt in the 29’.

In the opening game, Succotz United blanked Benque Verdes Jrs 2-0. Francisco Jimenez struck in the 64’ and 72’ to give Succotz the three points.

After four weeks of action, Santa Cruz now lead with 12 points. The ZBoys and Succotz follow with seven, Benque Verdes Jrs have three, while Youths United don’t have any points yet.
