Murder victim in Corozal identified as Concepcion Village resident Juan Mendez

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have positively identified the murder victim chopped to death in Conception Village, Corozal District this afternoon as 47-year-old Juan Arturo Mendez.

Mendez, along with 34-year-old Wendy Mendez, were the victims of a brutal chopping sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m.

Reports are that they had given someone lodging at their home and had told the man that he had to leave, which sparked an altercation.

During the altercation, the man took a machete and chopped Juan Mendez multiple times, including to the neck and chest. The man also chopped Wendy Mendez in the face.

Juan Mendez died on the spot while Wendy remains in critical condition at the Corozal Community Hospital.
