Mexican singer Pedro Fernández headlines the Día de San Pedro Festival tonight with a grand concert at La Isla Bonita

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Popular Mexican singer Pedro Fernández is the headline act at the Día de San Pedro Festival tonight.

Fernández, who arrived here on Thursday, will perform his songs such as ‘Yo no fui’ and ‘Amarte a la antigua’ with a grand concert at the Saca Chispas Field in La Isla Bonita. He’s sure to perform ‘Mi forma de sentir’, ‘Yo soy el aventurero’, and ‘El mariachi loco’.

His versión of the birthday song ‘Las Mañanitas’ is one of the most popular among the Hispanic population.

Since starting out as Pedrito Fernández when he was seven and sang the very popular hit song ‘Niña de la Mochila Azul’ and acted in the movie by the same name, Fernández has appeared in 25 movies and seven telenovelas (TV soap operas). He has recorded 39 albums.

Lately he was headlined in Netflix’s Malverde, El Santo Patron, a telenovela based on the life of folk hero Jesús ‘Malverde’ Juárez.

Fernández won the Latin Grammy Award for his music album ‘Yo no fui’ in the Best Ranchero Album category in 2002. Nine years later in 2010 he claimed a Latin Grammy for Best Regional Mexican Song for ‘Amarte a la Antigua’.

The International Night will feature the San Pedro Dance Academy and the Valentina Campos Show from Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The Día de San Pedro Festival activities started last night as Faith Edgar, Miss Captain Shark’s Marina, was selected as Miss San Pedro. The Miss San Pedro Pageant was followed by the After Party which featured popular international DJ Osocity along with DJ Shyfta, DJ Bigz, DJ Dalla, and Cloud 9.
