Posted: Tuesday, July 5, 2022. 1:25 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Officials have confirmed that 5 people lost their lives as Tropical Storm Bonnie swept through Central America.

Four people died in Nicaragua and 1 in El Salvador, Yahoo reports.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) says that Hurricane Bonnie is forecast to move parallel to the coasts of southern Mexico.

On Friday, Bonnie made landfall on the Caribbean coast in southern Nicaragua and swept north-west across the country to El Salvador’s Pacific coast.

Thousands of people in Nicaragua were left without power and water.

Bonnie, now a category 3 hurricane is located a couple of hundred miles south of southwestern Mexico. At this time, Bonnie poses no threat to land as it headed generally westward farther into the Pacific.

Forecasters advise the public to remain alert and prepared.
