Posted: Wednesday, August 10, 2022. 7:07 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 44-year-old fisherman from Placencia was robbed at gunpoint while out at sea this week.

The victim told police that he went to Channel Key to go fishing on Tuesday, August 9, and while he was in the Gran Channel area, a blue skiff approached him with a man standing on the front of it holding a 12 gauge shotgun.

The pirate instructed the fisherman that no one could dive in the area because it was under the control of an unnamed party, then robbed the fisherman of diving equipment to a total value of $960.

The pirate further threatened violence if the matter was reported to the police.

Police are seeking one known suspect in connection with the incident.
