Belize City man charged for handling stolen goods; claims he was set up

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Twenty-two-year-old call center agent Eandre Nunez appeared in court this week on a charge of handling stolen goods.

Nunez appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge, and explained that he was being set up by someone.

The Magistrate explained to him that, with his guilty plea, he did not need to explain himself at that stage of the judicial process.

There was no objection to bail so the Magistrate offered it to him in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same, which he was able to meet.

Nunez’s bail was granted with conditions in which the Magistrate told him he must not contact any of the prosecution witnesses including the virtual complainant in any way whether directly or indirectly or his bail will be revoked.

Eandre Nunez next court date is set October 17, 2022.

The allegations against him are that on August 17, he dishonestly assisted in the disposal of a stolen bracelet.
