Condolences pour out for young Jamire Borland of Cattle Landing who drowned yesterday

Posted: Monday, September 19, 2022. 9:52 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Twenty-four-year-old Jamire Borland of Cattle Landing, Toledo lost his life on Sunday.

Borland was reportedly with 2 other companions in a canoe when an accident occurred and they all fell into the sea. Borland apparently could not swim and drowned as a result.

Family and friends have taken to social media to extend their sympathies on his passing.

Kungo Dance Belize issued a statement sharing Jamire’s artistic story.

“He started dancing at the tender age of 5 and won Gold at The Festival of Arts for 4 years consecutively. He has 7 years of experience performing in the Institute of Creative Arts’ Dance and Dancers Showcase event “Dance X”. He performs as a “New Style Hip Hop Dancer”, known for “dancing with his heart on his feet”,” they stated.

Originally from Punta Gorda, Jamire dreamed to travel the world and teach people to dance.

“Jamire started dancing because he was overweight as a child and dance made him feel lighter and as though he had become someone else.  Dancing gave him the opportunity to become any character he wanted to be,” Kungo Dance Belize added.

“You had many dreams, some came through and some were yet to happen. Your memories and the legacy of your caring and loving soul will live on forever,” Empire Funeral Home said.

BBN joins in extending condolences to Borland’s family members and friends.
