By Benjamin Flowers: Prime Minister John Briceño has personally congratulated Belize High School’s robotics team for winning the gold at the First Global Challenge robotics competition, held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Briceño took to social media in light of the historic event to offer his congratulations to the team, which ranked 14th overall but collaborated with Switzerland, Botswana, and Lithuania to go undefeated in the playoffs and finals to secure the gold.
“Congratulations Belize High School!!! You not only took up the challenge to innovate in education, but you won the global competition,” the Prime Minister said. “We congratulate and support our young Belizeans for that stellar performance on the world stage in the global robotics competition… ”
Briceño also congratulated the other teams, the teachers, and the mentors that supported the students in achieving greatness.
