Talent Shows, Science Fairs, literacy games, and more to celebrate Children’s Day

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: World Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20 every year to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide and to improve children’s welfare.

The theme of this year’s Children’s day is “Inclusion, for every child”.

Schools across the country have planned exciting and interactive activities for their students.

Throughout the week, Victorious Nazarene Primary in San Jose Succotz hosted Science Day with recycling being the main focus and vocabulary day.

Santa Elena Primary in Santa Elena is hosting a talent show today and a Children’s fair tomorrow.

In 1959, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. November 20 is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Since 1990, World Children’s Day also marks the anniversary of the date that the UN General Assembly adopted both the Declaration and the Convention on children’s rights.

Parents, educators, government leaders, community workers, and media organizations all play a vital role in making World Children’s Day relevant for their societies, communities, and nations.

“World Children’s Day offers each of us an inspirational entry-point to advocate, promote and celebrate children’s rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for children,” the United Nations noted.
