By Breaking Belize News Staff: An argument between two men on a Hattieville basketball court has turned into a trial for grievous harm after the encounter turned violent.

Twenty-three-year-old Emmerson Young appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, accused of punching 18-year-old Gershon Danderson in the face during an altercation on November 26.

Young pleaded not guilty to the charge and since there was no objection to bail it was offered to him in the sum of $1,500 plus one surety of the same, which he met.

Young is due back in court on February 7, 2023.

Danderson told police that the two were playing a game of basketball and that Young was losing, causing him to play very aggressively. When Danderson told him to stop playing in that manner, Young allegedly attacked him.
