Bowen and Bowen share Christmas cheer with a “Jingle Box” for deserving families

By Aaron Humes: 200 Belizean families countrywide who may not otherwise be able to afford it get the pleasure of a Christmas meal courtesy of the employees and staff of Bowen and Bowen Limited.

The company’s annual “Jingle Box” initiative enters its 13th year, with representatives of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society; World Pediatric Center; Belize Cancer Society; Saint Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Parish; the Women’s Department; Hand in Hand Ministries and HelpAge Belize collecting their boxes at Bowen’s King Street headquarters this morning.

“This is a staff initiative 13 years in the making. Our staff members recognize the fact that in this country, we have people in need; this is a very important time of the year – it is a time of the year when people see family, and have great memories – and our members of B&B [staff] decided, why not try to help other families, provide them with a warm Christmas meal?” explained Bowen media specialist John Palacio, who added that the company matches the money raised by staff.

The boxes contain an average list of grocery items valued at $80 including rice, coconut milk, gift certificates for buying meats, and Crystal fruit juices – all the ingredients for a Christmas meal for families that would not be able to otherwise afford them.

And for those able to afford other Bowen products such as soft drinks and beer, Palacio says to be sure to check in with your local sales center as hours will be convenient for pick up and delivery. For more information on opening hours check out Bowen’s Facebook page.
