International News: U.S. Mayors to meet and discuss migrant crisis

Posted: Wednesday, January 18, 2023. 2:41 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Mayors from across the U.S. are meeting today to discuss the migrant crisis in the U.S., Fox reports.

The issue has caused controversy and public clashes among state officials.

The surge of migrants coming into their cities is overwhelming social resources, the officials say.

The U.S. conference of Mayors comes amidst a 2-year long crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

For the 2022 fiscal year, there were over 2.3 million migrant encounters.

Large groups of migrants have reportedly been moving from Texas into Washington D.C., New York City and Chicago.

Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams has said that there is “no room” for migrants in the U.S. most populous city.

The Mayors have called on the federal government to do something about the large influx of migrants.
