Tragedy in San Pedro: Woman found dead after being chained for days

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman found dead inside her home in San Pedro last Saturday.

Nicole Polonio,34, was seen partially nude on the street just days before she would be found dead inside her home.

One of her friends who spoke to News 5 Belize says that when she saw Nicole acting out of the ordinary, she followed her home.

When she arrived at the house, one of Nicole’s relatives said that they had informed the police about the matter.

The friend also said that Nicole wanted to jump out through the window.

According to the friend who visited the home another day to check on Nicole, the mother of 5 had been bound by her hand and feet.

“When I reach deh di Tuesday around 11:30, I bust ina di house. When I bust ina di house, Nicole mi chain up – her hand and her foot. I was shocked. I was like release her. That was the first thing that come to my mouth. Like God, please release her; make we try do something. Noh just chain her up soh,” the friend said.

Another relative of Polonio also confirmed that when she visited the home, she observed Nicole bound up with chains.

The police were reportedly called in by those concerned but nothing was done to assist Nicole.

Sources say that when they made the gruesome discovery, they noted bruises all over her body.

The post-mortem exam revealed that she died from positional asphyxia.
