Man who skipped court date last year picked up by police from his workplace

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man charged with a single count of harm failed to show up to his arraignment last year so police picked him up from his workplace and brought him to court this week.

Forty-three-year-old Julian Martinez was charged for an incident back in August 2022, where he allegedly attacked William Bradley with a bat. Martinez initially pleaded guilty to the offense, but when the facts were read to him in court, he did not agree with what was said, so he changed his plea.

He was granted bail in the sum of $600 plus one surety of the same, which he met, but then failed to meet his next court date so a bench warrant was issued for him.

Police picked him up on Tuesday and he received his disclosure. Martinez remains out on bail and is due back in court on May 3.
