Prosecution fails to deliver disclosure as Jerome Crawford makes 4th court appearance for murder charge

Posted: Thursday, March 30, 2023. 3:16 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The murder trial of 40-year-old Jerome Crawford has adjourned again this week after the prosecution was still unprepared to proceed with the next step.

On Wednesday, Crawford in the presence of his attorney Ian Gray, made his fourth court appearance in relation to the December 2022 murder of Ladyville businessman Owen Tucker; however, the prosecution could not provide him with disclosure.

The case was adjourned to April 28, at which time the prosecution must provide disclosure to the defense.

Tucker was reported missing on November 25, 2022, and his charred remains were found in Lemonal Village the following week.

Police say that Crawford admitted to the murder in a caution statement he had given to officers when he was initially detained.
