Taiwan President honored with Global Leadership Award in New York

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen was honored by the Hudson Institute with the Global Leadership Award.

In her acceptance speech, President Tsai dedicated the award to the people of Taiwan who have been steadfast and demonstrated resilience in the face of many challenges.

She also thanked those across US society who have supported Taiwan.

During her stopover in the U.S., President Tsai also met with young Taiwanese students pursuing their dreams in the U.S.

And during a banquet for locals and expatriates in New York, President Tsai reiterated the importance of Taiwan’s security.

“Taiwan stands on the frontline of the global democratic alliance. The unity of our people bolsters the security of our nation. And Taiwan’s security impacts the security of the world. Taiwan stands fast with its democratic partners in its commitment to freedom and democracy,” President Tsai said.

President Tsai is en route to Belize and Guatemala for a “Meeting Democratic Partners, Fostering Shared Prosperity” tour.
