Ministry of Economic Development, Second road safety project urges Belizeans to practice road safety this Easter

Posted: Thursday, April 6, 2023. 9:51 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Economic Development and the 2nd road safety project executing unit is urging Belizeans to practice road safety this Easter weekend.

“Easter is a time of the year when many of us travel to our planned vacation destination to spend quality time with family and friends.

As we celebrate, let us do so responsibly and safely. Our road infrastructure in many parts of the country is much improved and will afford you a better travel experience. However, we must not be tempted to speed. Cruising at a safe speed within the legal limit will allow for a pleasant and enjoyable journey,” the Ministry noted.

In addition, Belizeans are encouraged to leave early when traveling to avoid delays and rushing.

“Exercise patience and extend courtesy to other road users. Remember, everyone wants to have an enjoyable and safe holiday; don’t be the one to spoil it.

Let’s not speed, let’s not drink and drive, let’s not be distracted while driving, and ensure that all are properly buckled in,” the Ministry added.

Motorcyclists are also advised to exercise extreme caution and ensure that proper helmets are utilized.

This Easter, let’s all help to contribute to a zero-traffic incident.

The Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Osmond Martinez, and the Ministry of Economic Development and the Second Road Safety Project Execution Unit wish all a safe and blessed Easter Holiday!
