Revision coming for Harvest Caye cruise port agreement

By Aaron Humes: Some recommendations have been made by the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations and Belize Tourism Board for the amendment of the agreement between the Government and Belize Island Holdings Limited, the proprietors of the Harvest Caye cruise port in the Stann Creek District.

Cabinet announced that it will support the adaptation of these recommendations “to improve and define future growth and development of the Harvest Caye Port.”

Harvest Caye is primarily the port of call for ships of the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) and has been in operation since November of 2016 apart from during the COVID-19 pandemic when cruise ships stopped calling in Belize. In January of this year, some 28 percent of cruise ship visitors arrived via Harvest Caye.
