International News: Ukrainian President arrives in Rome for meeting with Pope

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Rome where he will meet with political leaders ahead of a meeting with Pope Francis.

President Zelensky is meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella, the BBC reports.

He is scheduled to meet with the Pope later today, their first meeting since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Rome has ramped up security efforts and implemented a no-fly zone.

The Pope has indicated that the Vatican could stand as a mediator in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
