National Kriol Council congratulates new Attorney General, Anthony Sylvester on his appointment

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The National Kriol Council (NKC) is the latest body to extend its congratulations to newly-appointed Attorney General Anthony Sylvester.

The NKC issued a statement today, wishing him well in his new capacity and thanking him for his service as the council’s representative on the People’s Constitution Commission.

“Mr. Sylvester along with our Alternate, Ms. Adelia Young have spent many hours and exerted much effort in the ongoing process and we are truly grateful to them,” the NKC said.

Sylvester was appointed Attorney General after his predecessor, Magali Marin-Young demitted office to return to private practice, at the end of June.

At the last meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday, Prime Minister John Briceño praised Sylvester not only for his knowledge in the legal field but for his dedication to serving people.

“Anthony Sylvester, you know, Anthony Sylvester has been a champion for the poor, you know, and many poor people when they can’t do better, they would go to people like Anthony, who has a social conscience in service as an attorney, not only the big clients but also the poor people. But, apart from that, he’s one of the experts in criminal law and also in constitutional law,” Briceño said.
