By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Prime Minister John Briceño is attending the European Union – Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (EU-CELAC) Summit 2023.
The summit is being held from July 17-18 in Brussels, Belgium.
PM Briceño has met Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
“The Summit is an opportunity to renew and strengthen relations between the two regions after almost a decade of absence of bi-regional dialogue at the highest political level,” the Prime Minister said.
The summit is being held under the theme “Renewing the bi-regional partnership to strengthen peace and sustainable development”.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration; Ambassador Stuart Leslie, Cabinet Secretary and Chief of Staff; and Ambassador Amalia Mai, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
