Orange Walk resident’s ear bitten off in heated nightclub altercation

By Aaron Humes: An Orange Walk man’s night out ended at the hospital after he was assaulted and had part of his ear bitten off according to police.

The complainant Zamir Vasquez, 25, reported that he was at D Gym Night Club on Sunday morning when he encountered a man known to him and another man unknown to him while going to the bathroom.

He asked the man to move aside so that he could pass as they were obstructing the entrance and the man responded aggressively, “Weh di go on with you,” then he and his companion began attacking Vasquez with punches, later joined by other persons, including one who hit him in the back of the head.

When Vasquez got back to his feet, he was restrained by the first attacker, who then bit him on his right ear, removing part of his earlobe. He then managed to release himself and he ran to the kitchen area to seek refuge.

The injury has been certified as maim and police are investigating.
