Brothers beaten and their truck stolen in armed robbery in Belmopan

By Aaron Humes: According to brothers Aaron and Jericho Pershing of the Agua Viva area of Belmopan off the Hummingbird Highway, four men assaulted them and stole a Toyota Hilux from their property on Monday night.

Police sources detail that the men were outside fixing a pipe in their yard around 8 p.m. when they were set upon by four men all in black, two of whom were carrying firearms. They were bound and tied up and one of the men took off inside their 2014 Toyota Hilux parked in the yard.

The others began beating them before fleeing toward the Hummingbird Highway.

Shortly after, the man in the stolen Toyota Hilux returned and passed the house going to the direction of the Hummingbird Highway. The Pershing brothers managed to get loose and Jericho Pershing ran inside his house and retrieved his licensed .22 rifle and ran behind the Hilux. Jericho Pershing then fired a shot towards the Hilux and the driver crashed into a palm tree. The men that were inside the Hilux pick-up truck ran out of the vehicle, escaping into the bushes.

Police investigations continue.
