UNICEF Belize designates Diany Pech as UNICEF Rep for Belize in honor of International Day of the Girl

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today is being celebrated globally as International Day of the Girl child.

The day is being observed under the theme, “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being”.

In honor of International Day of the Girl, Diany Pech was been designated UNICEF Representative for Belize.

Pech is a 2022 Child Parliamentarian and attends Caye Caulker Ocean Academy HS.

She began her day meeting the UNICEF Belize staff and reviewing her agenda and representative duties.

Pech recently participated in a national debate hosted by the People’s Constitutional Commission and her theme was striving for education and poverty and the lack of health care in Belize.

The United Nations note that girls are breaking boundaries and barriers posed by stereotypes and exclusion, including those directed at children with disabilities and those living in marginalized communities around the world.

“As entrepreneurs, innovators and initiators of global movements, girls are creating a world that is relevant for them and future generations,” the U.N. noted.
