By Breaking Belize News Staff: Jadaey Williams, 18, who was one of four people (2 adults, 2 minors) arrested on Halloween night in connection with a .45 pistol and ammunition, was the only one charged in court today because the gun was found in her bag.
Williams appeared in court unrepresented and was read two charges; a single count of possession of a prohibited firearm without a license and a count of possession of prohibited ammunition without a license. On Halloween night, police conducted a stop and search on Wilson Street after being tipped off that someone in the area was seen with a gun. Police on mobile patrol stopped a group of four people which included Williams, an adult male, and two minors.
A .45 pistol and three rounds of ammunition were found inside a knapsack that Williams was carrying. The group was arrested and held for 48 hours but only Williams was charged as the gun was found in her bag. Due to the nature of the offense, she was remanded to prison until December 29.
