National Assembly hosts Climate Crisis Forum

Posted: Thursday, November 9, 2023. 3:51 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the National Assembly of Belize hosted its Climate Crisis Forum for Parliamentarians to discuss Belize’s ongoing struggles with the harsh impacts of climate change as a member of the Small Island Developing States from the Caribbean.

The robust discussion invited participants to examine this existential threat from the perspectives of communities who must change their way of life to adapt to the country’s changing weather patterns.

The forum also served as a mini review for some of the talking points that Belize’s delegation may make at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28).

COP28 will be held from November 30 to December 12, 2023, in Expo City, Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
