By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Mahogany Heights man was spared from jail time and/or a fine after his common-law-wife withdrew charges against him for alleged damage to property.
Elston Arnold, 28, a construction worker was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate Court on Wednesday on a single charge of damage to property. According to reports, Arnold and his wife became involved in a domestic dispute on December 8 and Arnold, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, started breaking things.
Arnold allegedly broke a $40 Lasko fan and damaged an $80 window. In court, Arnold’s common-law-wife took the stand and told the court that she had only called the police to talk to Arnold, not to charge him. She withdrew the charge and with that, the matter against Arnold was dismissed.
