National Amateur Women’s League: Sagitun GIRLZ strike first blow beating Jewel Fury 1-0 on Sabrina Eiley goal in 1st Final

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Sagitun GIRLZ have taken the lead in the National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) Final beating defending champions Jewel Fury 1-0 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Wednesday evening.

Captain Sabirna Eiley, who has been on fire with the Belize Women’s National Team of which she is also the captain, brought over the heat to burn Jewel Fury with her first half goal.

The return and definitive leg is scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 pm at the Isidoro beaton Stadium in Belmopan.

Jewel Fury will be looking to gain revenge to claim the NAWL championship which they won over the Sagitun GIRLZ on Saturday, July 8 at the FFB Stadium. Jewel Fury had to go to extra time to edge the Sagitun GIRLZ 4-3 to win the NAWL 2022-2023 Opening Championship on a 5-4 aggregate after the first game finished 1-1 at the Michael Ashcroft in Independence on Saturday, July 1

Prior to that, Sagitun won the NAWL 2021-2022 Closing Championship in July 2022 and the NAWL 2022-2023 Opening Championship in December 2022.

The Sagitun GIRLZ advanced to the Finals beating Napoles of Belmopan 3-2 in the semifinals. Jewel Fury gained their ticket on a 10-1 and 3-0 wins over Caribbean Tire. Caribbean Tire defaulted the second game.
