By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize’s (FFB) Technical Director Philip Marin and Head of Coaching Education and also Head Coach of the Belize Women’s National Team Wayne Casimiro participated in the Inaugural Concacaf Coach Education Conference in Miami, Florida earlier this month.

Concacaf said the Coach Education Conference, held on December 12-13, sought to serve as a key forum for technical educational leaders from across the region and beyond to share best practices in coach education.

The conference also focused on the critical significance of implementing the Concacaf Coaching Convention for the football development of the Confederation.

All Concacaf member nations were invited to send their Technical Development Director and Head of Coach Education, and a women’s Coach Educator to participate.

On Day One, the conference looked at different topics including strategies for the continuous professional development and training of coaches. They also looked at a comparative analysis of previous editions of the Gold Cup.

On Day Two of the conference, the participants looked at increasing participation of women in coach education and coaching and its benefits, challenges and strategies. They also looked at the strategies that exist within the member associations to identify, recruit, train, and retain women in the coach, education and coaching workforce.

The conference also looked at club licensing and coach education/coach licensing and strategies for the continuous professional development of coaches.
