Eight Cooperatives and 1 Farmer group participate in Learn about Business and Doing Business program

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Recently, eight Cooperatives and a farmer group concluded the Learn about Business and Doing Business program.

 The program concluded with a workshop in San Antonio Village, Cayo District. 

The workshop aimed at developing management skills and entrepreneurial mindsets in rural youth leaders.

The program involved representatives from farmer organizations in Cayo, Corozal, Stann Creek, and Toledo. 

Participants, known as “Rural Champions,” shared acquired skills and outlined plans for organizational improvement, focusing on governance, access to services, technology, and market linkages. 

Supported by PROCASUR, FAO, and IFAD, the workshop aimed to strengthen inclusive, sustainable, and market-oriented rural enterprises in Belize. 

The closing event was attended by representatives from the Department of Co-operatives, Marie Sharp Fine Foods Ltd, FAO, Rural Resilient Belize Project, and Inclusive Belize Project.
