By Aaron Humes: On Saturday night in the Belama Phase 3 area, a Pontiac Vibe SUV sustained fire damage that police believe was deliberate.
The vehicle owner told police that she was at home when she heard a loud bang coming from the street where she had had parked her vehicle. She came outside to find the Vibe’s front right side on fire. The flames were successfully extinguished by family members before the Fire Service arrived.
The vehicle sustained fire damage to the windshield, right front rim, right wiper and wiring. Police recovered a plastic Crystal one-liter water bottle seen on the ground and a strong smell of gasoline in the area was noted.
The vehicle is insured and police investigations continue, with one person identified as wanted in connection with the investigation.
