By Aaron Humes: After three straight days of more than 200 new cases of COVID-19 reported per day, there was a reduction today to 169 against 117 recoveries.
Belize has now passed 1,700 active cases with 1,707 entering the weekend and 190 more samples under investigation.
No new deaths have been reported but the number of persons hospitalized remains at nine, a recent high. Since February 1, just 48 persons have died from COVID-19, most of those above the age of 50. Only three persons since February died while younger than 39, none of whom were fully vaccinated.
Belize City continues to report the majority of new cases with 69, followed by Belmopan with 15, San Ignacio/Santa Elena with 12, Punta Gorda and Dangriga with 11 each and Orange Walk Town with 7.
