Man who allegedly shot at police turns himself in

Staff: He was wanted for allegedly shooting at two police officers and a soldier on Saturday morning in Belize City.

However, Kendrick Longsworth, 26, has turned himself into police.

Yesterday in the presence of his mother and girlfriend he checked into the Raccoon Street Police Station to face charges of aggravated assault.

But instead of detaining him, police transported him to the hospital because he claimed to have been badly injured during his escape from police.

According to his family, he reportedly ran away because the officers pursuing him were in unmarked vehicles.

Police had previously indicated that they had received information of a man in possession of a firearm on North Front Street.

When they approached him, he ran and opened fire before jumping into the Belize River near the Swing Bridge and making his escape.
