By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community development, Labour and local government is celebrating a momentous achievement.
On June 15, the first vehicle to ever drive into the village of Machakilha, Toledo entered to deliver batteries and solar panels.
Earlier this year, Ministers Oscar Requena and Ramiro Ramirez visited the village along with Executive director of Plenty Belize, Mark Miller.
The Ministry and Plenty International Belize Limited committed to bring solar electricity to the community. The solar panels will be installed by solar engineers, Florentina Choco, Miriam Choc, and Cristina Choc.
The Ministry also committed to providing road access to the community.
“Today, we are happy to announce that those promises have been fulfilled to the people in Machakilha,” the ministry said.
