Trend of father-son murder victims

By BBN Staff: There have been several troubling murders recently where the victim was either the father or son of another murder victim over the last few years.

Leon Savery, 28, was killed in September 2014 while socializing with his friends on Angel Lane in Belize City when he and his uncle John Avilez were both shot in a drive by incident. Avilez had died on the scene while Savery succumbed to his injuries days later.

At the start of November, Savery’s only son, Tyler Savery,7, was killed on Daly Street while heading to purchase a milkshake with his cousin Porshan Pipersburgh, 22. Pipersburgh succumbed to his injuries one day later.

On December 31, 2011 Dale Tillett Jr.,19, was shot into the head while inside the Palm Island club. He died January 5, 2012. On Saturday morning his father Dale Tillett Sr., 44, was gunned down while leaving a club on Hyde’s lane.

The purported Crips boss in Belize, George Mckenzie Sr. was gunned down in August 2007 at the mouth of his Majestic Alley empire.

His son George Mckenzie Jr. was murdered on August 29, 2016 on the ITVET compound. He was stabbed multiple times as a group of men crowded him.

Prominent cyclist, Elbert Pope was murdered in June 2010. His 9-year-old son Aaron Micheal Myvette Pope was gunned down on December 31, 2011 after a gunman stormed his family home.

There have been no convictions in any of these murders.
